AJPK
King’s College London originally launched its joint LLB/Master 1 programme with the Université Paris I Sorbonne in 1977. This pre-dates, and in fact inspired, later Erasmus programmes. The course was and remains renowned for its unique dual degree offering and the resulting resilience as well as substantive, comparative and linguistic skills of its graduates.
The Course
Students spend two years at each university: they all begin with King’s College London and will now continue with two years at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. Teaching takes place in both English and French, with students following the usual curriculum of each law faculty. They cover both English Common Law and French Civil Law subjects, which helps them develop unparalleled skills that are highly sought after by international law firms and other employers, including corporations, international organisations and NGOs.
Upon graduating, students are awarded an LLB in English Law and French Law from King’s College London, and a Master 1 (LLB equivalent) from Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. This unique programme gives graduates the option to train professionally and qualify to practise law in France, England and Wales or both.
The European Lawyer programme can also be combined with this programme, after having completed the latter, by adding one year at Humboldt University (LLM Europäisches Recht und Rechtsvergleich), the University of Rome La Sapienza (Laurea Magistrale) or the University of Amsterdam (LLM International and European Law).
